About 25 energy stakeholders attended the sixth Danfoss EnVisioneering Symposium, “Breaking Through: Creating an Informed Energy Efficiency Technology Marketplace,” held Oct. 23, 2007, at the Hotel Washington in Washington, DC. This symposium was the final one hosted this year by Danfoss.
Participants recognized that in order to tackle the world’s complex energy challenges, all stakeholders – from energy producers and policy-makers to HVAC industry experts and end-users – must be better informed and educated and willing to share their knowledge with others. The symposium featured six speakers whose organizations have recognized the seriousness and urgency of the global energy situation, and are making strides to improve their education, knowledge and communication of key energy issues.

BALTIMORE, MD — Some 25 experts from the HVAC&R industry and the California market addressed growing concerns about the U.S. energy situation at the fifth Danfoss EnVisioneeringSM Symposium, “Making Dollars and Sense of Energy Efficiency: A Focus on Conservation,” June 5, 2007, at the Westin Hotel in Long Beach, CA.
One of the “big ideas” proposed was the concept of building performance metrics. That is, every commercial building should meet certain energy efficiency standards. If tied to federal or state legislation (or both), such standards would give building owners the incentive to implement improvements, resulting in higher energy efficiency across the building market. Those who don’t meet the standards would face the equivalent of a gas-guzzler tax, the group suggested.

Some 40 experts from the HVAC&R industry, U.S. Senate and several federal agencies – including the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Commerce Department and Environmental Protection Agency – discussed the global energy situation at the fourth Danfoss EnVisioneering Symposium, “Energy Efficiency Investment and the Emerging Global Cost Paradigm.”
The event, held April 17, 2007, at the Hotel Washington in Washington, D.C., touched on a variety of complex energy issues – from global warming and the future of power prices, to the cost of raw materials and labor, to selling energy efficiency into the developing world, most notably China.

Danfoss has issued a 16-page report that summarizes the key findings from its 2006 EnVisioneering Symposium Series.
“Danfoss 2007 EnVisioneering Insights: An In-Depth Look at Advanced Energy Strategy and Technology” is a comprehensive report of the lively discussions and major findings from the three symposia held in 2006 — in Kansas City, Chicago and Washington, DC.
“The purpose of the report is two-fold,” said John Galyen, president of Danfoss Refrigeration & Air-Conditioning, North America. “First, we wanted to identify the key environmental, energy and engineering issues related to policy, market forces and technology. Second, it provides a summary of the major energy and environmental codes, standards and legislation affecting the HVAC/R industry.”
In addition to the findings and reference guide, EnVisioneering Insights features opinion columns written by several thought leaders and a sneak preview of the 2007 EnVisioneering Symposium Series, which will focus on solutions and outcomes to meet short- and long-term energy needs.
